Ishq Namazaa Lyrics – Ankit Tiwari | The Big Bull

Ishq Namazaa Song Description

This song is "Ishq Namazaa" (इश्क़ नमाज़ाँ), which is a Romantic-Sufi track from the movie The Big Bull. This movie features lead artists like Abhishek Bachchan, Ileana D'Cruz, Nikita Dutta, and Sumit Vats. The song has been voiced by Ankit Tiwari, the music is composed by Gourov Dasgupta, and the lyrics are written by Kunwar Juneja. It has been released by Zee Music Company. The title itself is quite poetic because "Ishq Namazaa" means to read love like a prayer, i.e., to see love as an act of worship (ibaadat).

The lyrics begin with "Dil mera maangti hai kyun? Tu chahe meri jaan maang le" (Why does my heart ask? If you want, ask for my life) — which speaks of surrendering oneself completely to the beloved. "Khwabon ko bas ik vaari tu yaara mere naal rang de" (Just once, my friend, color my dreams with yourself) shows the desire to color dreams. Then comes the main line "Ishq namazaa main taan padhiya" (I have read love like a prayer) — which, in Sufi style, says that I have made love itself my prayer. "Mujh mein main nahi, tujh mein tu nahi, dil ki sun aawaazan" (In me, I am not; in you, you are not; listen to the call of the heart) reveals that in this love, both lose their individual identities, and only the feeling of following the heart remains.

Further in the lyrics, "Tere-mere ishq diyan hain uchiyaan hain parvazan" (The flights of your and my love are high) gives this love a very high status. Meanwhile, "Jab se mila hoon tujh se, main gumshuda hoon, subah-shaam tu hi tu hai, bata main kahaan hoon" (Since I met you, I am lost; you are only you morning and evening, tell me where am I) describes the lover's state of being lost and feeling only the beloved at all times. "Meetha-meetha hai khaara paani, mithiya teri yaad" (The salty water is sweet, your memory is sweet) — meaning your memory is so sweet that even salty water feels sweet. Overall, "Ishq Namazaa" is a deep romantic song that is an excellent confluence of love, surrender, longing, and Sufi feelings. It makes the mood of The Big Bull movie even more emotionally strong, and Ankit Tiwari's voice is the soul of this song.
