Matlabi Yariyan - Unplugged Lyrics – Parineeti Chopra | The Girl On The Train

Matlabi Yariyan - Unplugged Song Description

This song is "Matlabi Yariyan - Unplugged" (मतलबी यारियाँ - अनप्लग्ड), which is from the movie "The Girl On The Train" . This movie features artists like Parineeti Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari, and Avinash Tiwary. This song has been sung by Parineeti Chopra herself, the music is composed by Vipin Patwa, the lyrics are written by Kumaar, and this song has been released under the Zee Music Company label. This is the unplugged version of the original song, with lighter music and emotional vocals, making this version even more heart-touching.

In the lyrics, the breakdown and pain of relationships are beautifully expressed. Right at the beginning, a question is raised: "Kyun beech mein ye deewarein hain? Badhne lagi ye daraarein hain" (Why are these walls between us? These cracks are growing) — meaning why have distances come between two people, and these distances keep increasing. Then, lines like "Samandar mein doobe kinaare hain" (The shores are drowning in the sea) show a feeling where everything has been lost, and "Soi nazar mein sau dard jaage" (A hundred pains awaken in my sleeping eyes) shows how deep the pain is hidden inside, and the heroine, defeated, says "Haariyan" (I've lost). After this comes the main hook: "Yaara, matlabi thi teri yaariyan" (Friend, your friendships were selfish) — which is the core message of this song, conveying that the relationship which was thought to be true was actually based only on selfishness.

Further, the lyrics say: "Ishq mein thi kitni kamiyaan, bas mili hain badnaamiyaan" (There were so many shortcomings in love, all I got was blame) — meaning there were many flaws in love, only infamy was received. "Dil ke musafir ne dekhi hain har pal nakaamiyaan" (The traveler of the heart has seen failures at every moment) shows that in love, every step brought failure, and all dreams shattered before their eyes. Then, lines like "Jhoothi sajna ki yaari, jhoothi thi wo daavedaari" (False was the beloved's friendship, false was that claim) tell that it was not true love, but all false pretence and bargaining of hearts. Overall, Matlabi Yariyan - Unplugged is a painful breakup song that expresses the truth of betrayal, broken love, and selfish relationships. Parineeti Chopra's emotional voice and Kumaar's deep lyrics together make this song the story of every person who has ever been betrayed by a selfish friend/lover.
